Winstar Casino Poker Room Review
I travel to Winstar World Casino about once a week to play poker. It's about 4 1/2 hours from west Austin, where I live. I've played poker all over the world, and the Winstar poker room is one of my favorite places to play. That being said, if you're not a poker player, you might not like like the place as well as I do. Poker Room Let’s deal you in. As host to multiple $1,000,000 – or more – tournaments each year, WinStar World Casino and Resort knows poker. With a 55-table room dedicated to the art of bluffing, betting and winning, you’ll find your game at WinStar: No-Limit Texas Hold ‘Em.
I went for a second time for the Saturday $175 deep stack tournament. The room is smoke free and the game play was just what you want in a good stake, half hour blind level game. The majority of the players were older me with a splash of other different players. The game itself was such that I was shorstacked once the antes kicked in but still managed to play from 11 am to almost 6 pm. It's a hike to get there from Houston but it well worth it for a road trip or a spontaneous go round. The weekday games were good as well. Saturday's game boasted 157 players and a $6K first prize. I played a couple Thursday $65 buyin games with 89 players in the afternoon and 49 players in the evening session. It's a good room that accommodates where possible.
Gameplay: some aggression, but a steady game just the same. Not a donk fest at all. Most players are locals and are familiar with each other and the dealers.
